The DCMI Administrative WG has been rather quiet for some time now. But the authors of the proposal presented at the Tokyo meeting has spent time on practical experiments, attempts at XML-encoding, discussions with national co-operation partner’s etc. On the basis the authors expect to produce a thoroughly prepared draft for AC-metadata set in a few weeks. The proposal includes elements for the metadata records, elements describing the change of the record (refinements of AC.Activity) and elements relevant for batch update.

Following the meeting in Tokyo, one important conclusion in connection with DC-2001 was that we had to define the objective more precisely. We are not talking in terms of a "Core", but of a list of elements from which one can pick and choose according to individual needs. The name of the metadata is renamed to AC - Administrative Components. Focus is interchange of metadata records.

Based on the new proposal we will discuss the further work at DC-2002 in Florence.
