Advanced Information Systems Laboratory of the University of Zaragoza
Javier Nogueras-Iso received the MS and PhD degrees in computer Science from the University of Zaragoza, Spain. After working for the Economic and Social Committee of the European Communities (Belgium), in 1998 he started his research at the Advanced Information Systems Laboratory of the University of Zaragoza, where he is currently an Associate Professor of computer science. In 2005, he completed a postdoctoral stay at the Joint Research Centre (Institute of Environment and Sustainability, Italy). From 2011 to 2017, he was the Director of Catedra Logisman on Technological Document Management, and from 2015 to 2019, he was an Associate Director of the Aragon Institute of Engineering Research (I3A). This talk will present the history of Dublin Core during the past 20 years in connection with the publication of geospatial data in Spatial Data Infrastructures and Open Data portals. Given the importance of geographic information for decision-making and resource management in diverse areas, this talk may be of interest to any person interested in the development or management of information systems.
