DCMI Virtual: Student Forum
Student Forum - Call for Participation
The DCMI 2021 Conference Program Committee invites you to submit an abstract or proposal for presentation at the DCMI 2021 Student Forum, to be held on 11th and 12th October, 2021.
The aim of this forum is to provide opportunity to masters' and doctoral
students to share their experiences and exchange ideas of best
practices, research in progress and findings in areas relating to the
theme of the conference, which is, Metadata Innovation.
The topics may include but not limited to the following:
- Metadata for cultural heritage
- Metadata mapping
- Data integration
- Linked Data
- Organization of linked spaces and cultures
- Practical application in adoption of linked data and metadata
innovation - Linked data education and advocacy and interoperability
Deadline for Submission of abstracts for Student Forum presentation
Postgraduate students currently enrolled to any academic programs or
internships and recently graduated students are requested to submit
their abstracts for Student Forum presentation by 20th July 2021 31st July 2021, 23:59
AoE (Anywhere on Earth) for consideration.
Evaluation of abstracts and proposals
The Program Committee will evaluate abstracts and proposals based on the
following criteria:
- Support of the conference theme and goals
- Interest to information sciences disciplines such as Libraries,
Archives, and Museums (LAMs) Publishing, among others - Representation from regions, and topics that are underrepresented in the conferences relating to metadata innovation and linked data
Feedback to submitted abstracts
Feedback and decision on submitted abstracts will be notified by 30th of July 20th of August 2021
Submission Details
- Submissions should be authored by students only.
- The abstracts should have a clear title and the content must be less than 1500 words plus references.
- The author's full name, enrolled academic program and affiliation
should be mentioned after the title. - If the submission has multiple authors, all authors and their
affiliations should be stated. - The name of the supervisor(s)/Mentor(s) with affiliation must be clearly marked on the abstract, under the authors' name.
- The funding agency or any other party supporting or contributing to the research should be acknowledged.
- Recommended file type for abstract and presentation is PDF.
- To submit an abstract for the student forum presentation, please use the abstract submission portal (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dcmi2021) by
July 20July 31, 2021, 23:59 AoE. - The Program Committee will communicate decisions for proposals by
July 30August 20, 2021. - If accepted, you will be asked to make final submission of abstract and presentation files by
August 30thSeptember 10th, 2021. - Each presenter will have 10 minutes to give a presentation then have an opportunity to answer questions.
