OCLC and Internet Archive announce a revitalized PURL service

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Today, OCLC and Internet Archive announced that the two "organizations have worked together to build a new sustainable PURL service hosted by Internet Archive that will manage existing and future persistent URLs and sub-domain redirections for purl.org, purl.com and purl.net." (OCLC press release) All previous PURLs have been transferred to the Internet Archive and ongoing maintenance by their owners will continue within a significantly improved context. The new interface is located at http://www.archive.org/services/purl. DCMI congratulates both OCLC and Internet Archive on this significant achievement.
